Hi hi, I was thinking of creating a game in the Fantasy World subforum, but couldn't quite figure the following with the available info:
- Is intending to create a game merely a requirement to become a Storyteller?
OR
- Do you actually need to be a Storyteller before you're allowed to create a game?

Hello hello!
Welcome to Overlight!
That is a very good question. To answer your second question first, no. You dont need to be a Storyteller first {however game running experience of any level would be nice!} Right now we're trying to set down exactly what the term Global Storyteller means {right now the intenion is that ,they're basically the site mods but this will change soon as we figure out a good chain of command}
So in short, do you need to be a storyteller before being allowed to run a game ? No, get the game going, advertsider as you like, and we'll see what happens from there. When enough fooks begin running games each subforum saection will have their own game "moderators" for an example "D&D Storytellers" would more or less be D&D focused storytellers and Game Masters. Global Storytellers is who you'd go to if you cant get hold of the admins
At least I think that is the plan.
Please let me know if this made sense
EDIT TO ADD: Just a small note here; Global Storyteller doesnt mean that there is a plan for a sitewide plot, far from it, right now I am just trying to avoid the bland and unimaginitive term "Global Moderator"

Thanks for the info! It did make sense! And I'm kind of glad. I wouldn't mind helping around the site at some point if needed, but I tend to have a lot of breakdowns, whether it be mental/emotional once in a while, or even 'just' my laptop dying on me.
I'm willing to risk it happening in general because I do love roleplaying (even if my forced absences might kill my games), but actually becoming a mod of some kind while I'm like this tends to go beyond 'calculated risk' into 'downright irresponsibility'.
(And before anyone who reads this asks/cries foul, I will always attempt to inform any of my potential roleplay partners of this matter before we start playing together, and leave the choice whether they want to risk it together to them. That's not always feasible though, with the nature of settings like the Omniverse, where new people can join in on existing threads with little warning. I mean, I will still tell them and give them the choice whether they want to try and continue along this vein or not, but I can't give advanced warnings if I don't get any warning of their intention to join before they actually post.)

Well in regards to the Omniverse, yeah, that's the plan, for it to fester and go self growth with little GM action to move things along. Each other genre is for other games. Once youi make a character in thje Omniverse, bam, post whatever whereever or join a current thread to get things going. When threads get locked that scene is considered complete... I guess that works
The whole point of Overlight is to game when you're able and not feel pressured to do anything other then pop in and say hi if you're able.
I am really glad I can be of help to you today!
