Ome, a world much like our own, but with one key and distinct difference. Where in our world, magic became the stuff of fantasies, on Ome, it was very much a part of reality.
Enter into a world where dragons, centaurs, elves, dwarves, and all other sorts of magical and mythological entities exist. A world that developed much like our own, with it's own cities, countries, and nations, with technology growing and developing, becoming married to, and sometimes standing against, magic. Wars and battles and conflicts were fought, peaces were had, truces were made, and now the world stands in a delicate balance.
And in the city of Melorai, in the Loring Kingdom, join the MCPD (Melorai City Police department). Like anywhere else, criminals and villains abound in the world of Ome, and in Melorai, the people look to the brave men and women of the MCPD to protect them from all those who would do them harm.
And for when protection fails, justice must be had. The Detectives of the MCPD work to solve crimes and find the criminals who perpetrate them, in a never ending war against evil.
Concept: Like you can see above, fantasy meets modern world, with police working to solve crimes and stop criminal organizations.
Playable Races
I'm largely using pathfinder for the majority of the fantasy creature inspiration. Races are divided into two groups, Civilized and Uncivilized. These classifications are NOT based on what we might think of as acceptable civilized races (standard humans elves etc.) But rather it is based on whether or not the species is capable of organizing itself without outside influence. Orks, elves, humans, etc all obviously fit into this catagory, but so do Ratmen, Tengu, Kobolds, Saurians, lizardfolk, goblins, etc.
basically, if it's capable of being diplomatic (even if others don't see it that way) then it's acceptable as a playable race.
Obviously there will be peoples own additions they want to throw in, and that's fine, just be prepared to answer a LOT of backstory questions.
Detectives vs cops
Now obviously not everyone will want to be a cop or a detective, but that's the primary header. I'm not going to say no to a bartender or a criminal character, but most plots I put together will largely be made for the detectives to sort out.
My intention is to have thing's built so people can actually play the role of detective and put the pieces together themselves, so if your the sort that likes that thing, your welcome.
Regarding Dragons
in 7k25, the first Dragon, mortal alliance was founded due to circumstance. Rhaegan, a white scaled dragon and a young one to boot, found himself at the recieving end of a blue scales agression. Both dragons knew well that Rhaegan could not hope to defeat the blue scale, whose name was Moruut. But then Rhaegan did something unexpected, he went to the city of Aruna, Capital of the Bekan Kingdom, and requested Asylum, a concept he had heard mortals discuss regarding prisoners from other cities. The king of Bekan was a wise king who had maintained his kingdom through strategic manuevering and tactical brilliance, and he all too well knew how valuable a dragon could be, so he accepted and they set terms. Moruut, upon hearing this, decided to attack both Bekan and Rhaegan, seeing them as one and the same. He flew on Aruna and there he was again surprised as Rhaegan met him in the air for combat, but Rhaegan was not alone. The King had had a saddle made for the dragon, and although Rhaegan had protested, upon hearing the explanation, the dragon agreed to allow the King's most trusted aid and friend, Senna, ride him. Senna was a powerful warmage, able to use her spells and magic to strengthen defenses, fortify endurance, and increase speed. With her support, Rhaegan easily outflew and outmanuevered the larger Bluescale, and after infuriating him, led Moruut into a carefully planned ambush wherein the king had Magitanks fire upon the blue scaled dragon. The assault was planned to shred Moruut's wings, and once he could no longer fly, he was easily harried by Rhaegan. Together with the king's finest soldiers, Moruut was defeated and slain. And this event sparked what would become known as the Draconic Renasiance, where in every kingdom sought to have each of their cities host a Dragon, for military defense.
(basically Dragons are nuclear deterrent preventing kingdoms from attacking each other's cities.)
Integration of Dragons into a kingdoms cities varies in process depending on the kingdom. In Loring, each city has a highly respected noble family assigned to "adopt" the Dragon for the city, thereby giving the dragon the social status and rank equal to the highest of nobility. This makes it easier for the cities to then justify the Dragons unfortunate tendency to take valuables from citizens and others as part of the "dragon tax". In recent years, to quell growing unrest over the whole thing, the king of Loring has begun a process of reimbursing citizens at the end of each year for valuables they may have lost, though he's also hopeful at the implementation of a sort of annual celebration where people will make or purchase gifts for the dragon of their own accord, to hopefully reduce the loss of other valuables.
In Melorai specifically, the City's dragon is a Black Scale named Irunaik (the K is silent) Ameno, who is connected to the Ameno Family and their long history of military service.
